The Sunday of the third week of Great Lent in the Orthodox Church is called the Sunday of the Veneration of the Cross.

At the All-Night Vigil, following the Great Doxology, the Life-Creating Cross of the Lord was carried into the middle of the church.

The carrying of the Cross takes place in the same way as on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, but the Cross is not raised up today, it is simply venerated.

During the week, the Cross is venerated on Monday and Wednesday at the reading of the First Hour. On Friday, after veneration, the Cross is taken back into the altar.
