The Entrance of our Lord into Jerusalem

A week before the Resurrection of Christ, the Holy Church celebrates the solemn entrance of the Savior into Jerusalem on the eve of the Old Testament feast of the Passover.

The hymns for the feast of the Entrance of the Lord into Jerusalem echo the words from the Holy Scripture revealing to us the mystery of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ into the world as the promised King and Messiah. They encourage every Orthodox Christian to sing glory to the coming Savior, to appeal to His inexpressible mercy and just as the children did then, to take in our hands the blossoming spring branches, the symbols of victory of life over death, that come to life after the death of winter.

The solemn divine evening service on the eve of the Entrance of the Lord into Jerusalem in the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery took place in the Trinity Cathedral. On the feast day, three Divine Liturgy services were celebrated: an early morning service in the Transfiguration Cathedral and two late morning services in the Trinity Cathedral and the Dormition Church.
