Dyeing eggs for Pascha

Easter egg in Christianity symbolizes the Tomb of the Lord that conceals eternal life.

Eggs before Pascha are dyed in different colors; they are also painted or decorated with stickers.

The eggs are traditionally dyed in the monastery using onion shells that makes them turn red, the symbol of blood and suffering of Christ.

The dyeing takes place during the day on Clean Thursday. The sisters get help from volunteer helpers, as they are to die as many as three thousand eggs for the feast.
