“Cloth Rag and Cloud” play presented by Sunday church school from Znamensky skete

There is a Sunday church school at the Znamensky skete of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery in the village of Khryapunovo where the sisters and local children stage plays dedicated to the major church feasts. Their edifying and engaging performances always stand out for ingenuity, inventiveness, and colorful costumes.

To commemorate the Nativity of Christ, the children from Khryapunovo village prepared a play called the “Cloth Rug and Cloud” based on the story by Sophia Prokofieva. It tells about a kind girl named “Loskutik” (“cloth rug”) and her friend “Oblako” (“cloud”). Joined by other good-hearted friends, they manage to save the residents of their kingdom from their king who hid water from everyone.

On January 12, the play was shown at the Pilgrim Center of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery. The performance ended with the singing of Christmas songs and “kolyadki” by the young artists.
