The blessing of the Sarov Gates in the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery

On June 4, at the end of the late-morning Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas blessed the Sarov Gates.

The Sarov Gates is the historic entrance to the Diveyevo monastery on the way from Sarov. Before the revolution, they consisted of a simple group of arches. The old entrance, as well as the monastery fence, did not survive to this day. The laying of the Sarov Gates took place in May 2021, and this spring its crosses and domes were blessed.

Sergey Kirienko, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the restoration of the Sarov and Diveyevo monasteries, First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Russia, and Dmitry Chernyshenko, member of the Board of Trustees, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, attended today’s ceremony.

After the rite of blessing, Metropolitan Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas pointed out that the gates are builtin direction of the Holy Dormition Sarov Pustyn monastery and point out an invisible spiritual connection between Diveyevo and Sarov. “The gates are restored in the original location, but they look a lot more magnificent than before. It is the work of many people: architects, builders, and the trustees. May everyone who enters through them be blessed by the grace of both the Sarov and the Diveyevo,” said the ruling archpastor.
