Paschal services in Arzamas
On September 25 and 26, Hegumenia Sergiya (Konkova), the abbess of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery, took part in the paschal services. Metropolitan Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas celebrated the service at the Resurrection Cathedral Church in Arzamas. The services held there commemorated the Dedication of the Temple of the Resurrection of Christ at Jerusalem. The churches with the patronal feast of the Dedication of the Temple of the Resurrection of Christ at Jerusalem hold paschal services on this day.
Concelebrating His Eminence were Bishop Elijah of Balakhna, the Vicar of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese, and Bishop Filaret of Dalnekonstantinov.
After the service, Met. Georgiy addressed the faithful with the archpastoral word: “With His resurrection, Christ rendered death harmless, He rose from the dead to grant eternal life and won a victory over death. May this joyful news that life has overthrown death, light conquered darkness, and good defeats evil lives forever in our hearts! We have the Resurrection of Christ as our faith, hope, and love.” The head of the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolitanate congratulated the residents of Arzamas with the patronal feast of their deanery’s main church. At the conclusion, he distributed the dyed Easter eggs among those in attendance as the symbol of the feast of the Resurrection of Christ.
