A hero of the Special Military Operation buried at the monastery cemetery
A newly departed soldier Marian Svechnikov was buried today at the monastery cemetery.
Marian participated in a special military operation in Ukraine as a reconnaissance company commander since February 2023. He died a heroic death on May 11 near Artyomovsk.
The soldier Marian will be fondly remembered in the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery. He came to Diveyevo for the first time at the age of seven from the Far East, and over time became an indispensable assistant in various monastic obediences: helping with tin work, gilding of the domes, at the icon shop, as a carpenter, and cleaning churches.
Yesterday evening, Rev.Fr. Pavel Pokrovsky, rector of the church of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the village of Satis, served the parastas service in the Kazan Church on the northern outskirts of Diveyevo. He also presided at today’s Divine Liturgy and funeral service for the soul of the newly departed soldier Marian. The hero was accompanied on his last journey by the relatives, sisters and workers of the Diveyevo monastery.
