Moscow’s “Renaissance” Choir visited the Seraphim-Diveyevo Monastery

During today’s liturgy at the Trinity Cathedral, the “Renaissance” Choir from Moscow’s “Joy” Center for cultural and musical education and development of children and youth has offered a truly enlightened rendition of a post-communion chant sung in the finest Russian liturgical tradition.

The “Renaissance” Choir is formed by the former students of the “Joy” Cultural Center’s choir department. All of its participants have forged their paths in life but the love of music and choir singing keeps them together. The choir successfully performs at various prestigious concert venues around Moscow. It has earned the laureate title and the Grand-Prix awards at international choir competitions, including the international choir festival in Bratislava (Slovakia), “Chorus Inside” (Lloret-del-Mar, Spain), “Crystal Chapel”, and “The Sounds of Moscow.”

The artistic director of the “Renaissance” Choir is Tatyana Aramovna Zhdanova, the Honorable Artist of Russia, founder of “Joy” Children and Youth Center, laureate of the award of the President of the Russian Federation and Mayor of Moscow in the area of education, and the “Moscow’s Grants” competition.

In 2020, with the blessing of Metropolitan Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod, the “Renaissance” Choir took part at the Christmas Choir Council held at Nizhny Novgorod’s Cathedral Church of Holy Righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky. During the Council, Tatyana Aramovna met Nun Palladia (Boldina), head of “My Joy” Choir of Diveyevo Monastery’s Orthodox school, and invited her to take part at Moscow’s “Song of Nativity” festival and competition for children and youth. The competition took place in Moscow between December 19, 2019, and February 15, 2020. The choir from Diveyevo became its First Laureate in the category of school choirs. On her part, Nun Palladia invited Tatyana Aramovna to perform in Diveyevo.

On February 15 and 16, the “Renaissance” Choir visited the Seraphim-Diveyevo Monastery. The pilgrims prayed before the relics of Diveyevo, took a general tour of the monastery, and visited the holy springs.

On February 16, the “Renaissance” Choir took the stage at Diveyevo’s Regional House of Culture. The choir’s repertoire includes the finest examples of Russian spiritual and classical music, Western European music, music by modern composers, and traditional music from Russia and around the world.
