On April 8, the day of the Synaxis of the Archangel Gabriel, Metropolitan Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas celebrated a thanksgiving prayer service before the annual meeting of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese at the Holy Righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.

The meeting was held in the “Packhouse” cultural center on Strelka. Hegumenia Sergia, the abbess of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery, was in attendance.

The main events of the past year have been the completion of major restoration works at the Resurrection Cathedral in Arzamas, the Great Consecration of the cathedral by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia during his primatial visit to the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese on July 29-August 1, visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the Resurrection Cathedral and the Diveyevo Monastery, a trip of a delegation of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese headed by Metropolitan Georgiy to the Lugansk Republic, and events marking the anniversaries of the Annunciation monastery and the Nizhny Novgorod theological seminary.
