Patronal feast at the Church of the Holy Righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky

On December 6, the Orthodox Church celebrates the memory of the Holy Righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky, a great defender of the Russian lands, a valiant warrior, and devout Christian believer known for his heroic deeds as much as for the power of his faith in the Lord. The history preserved the words of his appeal to troops before the battle of the Neva: “God is not in strength but in Truth.”

The holy Prince reposed in the Lord exactly 796 years ago in the Nizhny Novgorod’s ancient town of Gorodets-on-Volga. This event is remembered today.

The Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery’s refectory church was consecrated in memory of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky. The vigil service commemorating the memory of the great warrior prince was served there today.
