The Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery prayerfully commemorated the holy martyrs of Puza

The Puza martyrs Eudoxia, Daria, Daria and Maria suffered martyrdom for the faith of Christ.

Hieromonk Damascene (Orlovsky) describes in his book “Martyrs, confessors and ascetics of piety of the Russian Orthodox Church of the 20th century” the last days of the earthly life of the ascetics from Puza village: “On August 16, 1919 the punitive detachment arrived to the Puza village. After being told they harbored a deserter and agitated against the Red Army, the soldiers who broke into Eudoxia’s cell mocked and beat her, then threw out and stepped upon the icons. The people were herded into the square, and the commander of the detachment held a trial demanding a vote favoring execution. On the morning of August 18, the priest Vasily Radugin was allowed to come to Eudoxia and he administered the Holy Mysteries to her, along with her cell women Daria Ulybina, Daria Timagina and Maria, who decided to share the fate of her mentor. When Eudoxia Sheikova was taken by cart to the place of execution in the village cemetery, her nuns protected her from blows with their bodies. All the executed were buried in a common grave.”

The holy martyrs Eudoxia, Daria, Daria and Maria are included among the Synaxis of the Diveyevo saints. One of the chapels of the Kazan Cathedral was consecrated in their honor, and on the patronal feast, Divine Liturgy and a paraklesis with water-blessing prayer service were held here.
