Today the Holy Church remembers the miraculous vision of the Most Holy Mother of God to the Venerable Sergius of Radonezh. On this day, the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery celebrates the patronal feast of the northern side chapel of the Dormition Church. Paraklesis with water-sanctifying prayer service and the Divine Liturgy were celebrated here.

Late at night, Venerable Sergius was reading the akathist to the Mother of God. Having completed his prayer rule, he sat down to rest a bit, but then he suddenly announced to his cell man Micah: “Stay awake, my child, we shall behold a wondrous visit!” Once he has said this, a voice was heard: “The Most Pure One is about to come!” The Venerable Sergius rushed to step out of his cell to the inner porch when a bright light suddenly shone upon him. He saw the Most Holy Mother of God accompanied by the Apostles Peter and John. The elder, unable to bear the wondrous radiance, bowed down before the Mother of God and She said to him: “Do not be afraid, My chosen one, I have come to visit you. You pray about your disciples, and your prayer was heard. I will remain forever in this place and even after you depart, it will abound with all things they need.”

The house church consecrated in honor of the Vision of the Most Holy Mother of God to the Venerable Sergius of Radonezh at the Sergiev-Posad metochion of the Sergievo-Diveyevo monastery in Selkhoz village also celebrated the patronal feast today.
