On this Sunday afternoon, after the late-morning Divine Liturgy, a prayer service for the preservation of God’s creation was held in the Trinity Cathedral of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery. Using this special prayer service, the Holy Church, as a caring mother, beseeches the Lord to help and preserve the creation entrusted to man.

It isn’t the first time a prayer for God’s creation and mankind has been read in our churches. On July 13, 2015, at a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, a resolution was adopted regarding the necessity to celebrating a prayer service for the preservation of God’s creation on the first Sunday in September.
