Today is the birthday of Metropolitan Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas. His Eminence turned sixty today.

Typically, on his birthday, Metropolitan Georgy celerbates the rite of the Great Consecration of one of the newly built or restored churches in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This time, it was the consecration of the Cathedral to the Resurrection of Christ in Dzerzhinsk.

Sharing the joy from the festive events with His Eminence were Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan, Metropolitan Daniel of Kurgan and Belozersk, Metropolitan Theognost of Kashira, Metropolitan Joseph, Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, Metropolitan Zinovy of Saransk and Mordovia, Archbishop Dimitry of Vitebsk and Orsha, Bishop Elijah of Balakhna and Bishop Filaret of Dalnekonstantinov, Bishop Paramon of Gorodets and Vetluga, clergy and monastics of the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolitanate.

Metropolitan Theognost congratulated the head of the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolitanate on his birthday and read out the greeting by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. In consideration of his archpastoral service and in connection with his 60th birthday, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill honored Metropolitan Georgiy with the Order of St. Macarius the Metropolitan of Moscow of second degree.
