Meeting of the Inter-Council Presence’s Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church on monasteries and monastics held in Sarov

On November 7,  the Inter-Council Presence’s Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church on monasteries and monastics held its meeting at the Holy Dormition Sarov  monastery. Metropolitan Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, the Commission’s chairman, presided at the meeting.

Bishop Alexiy of Solnechnogorsk, Abbot of the Moscow’s Danilov monastery, shared the results of research on the topic of the “Practical aspects of the admission to the monastery and spiritual guidance of young novices.” The Commission approved of this project and agreed to submit it to the Inter-Council Presence’s administration office.

Hegumenia Jouliania (Kaleda), the abbess of the Zachatyevsky stavropegial monastery,  informed the gathering about the current developments on the issue of “Home prayer rule for the monastics” and regarding the intermediate discussion results of the issue of  the “Monastics serving as ministers on a parish level” obtained at the events held by the Synodal Department on monasteries and monastics.

The report presented by Archimandrite Melchizedek (Artyukhin), the Press Secretary of the Synodal Department on monasteries and monastics, related to the results of work on the issue of the “Relationship between the brethren of the monasteries and the outside world in light of monastic vows” and research into the topic of “The monastics and their engagement into social media.”
