On April 9, Prot. Artemiy (Vladimirov) met with the teachers and parents from the local Orthodox school at the Educational Center of the Seraphim-Diveyevo Monastery. Father Artemiy spoke at length about the upbringing of children, family life, challenges of the modern times, and how to respond to them.

“We can find truth once we stick to the happy medium,” remarked Fr. Artemiy during the conversation about school education. “It represents, on the one hand, the royal path for it incorporates a discerning love that urges, organizes and never slackens. On the other hand, there is strictness that never becomes a goal in itself, yet it should always instruct and correct acting as a handy tool of love. I like this ancient law of teaching: “Learn how to announce unpleasant things agreeably.” This law should work as a modern teacher’s motto, as well.
