Xenia Mikhailovna Kocheulova prayerfully remembered today

Today was the day of remembrance of Xenia Mikhailovna Kocheulova, the third superior nun of the Diveyevo’s Kazan community. A Litya service of remembrance was served at her grave located by the Kazan Cathedral’s altar.

Xenia Mikhailovna took care of the community for over forty years during Father Seraphim’s lifetime. For her strictness and life full of austerity, Father Seraphim used to call her “a pillar of fire straight up to heaven” and a “spiritual rasper.” Father delivered Venerable maidens Martha and Elena to reside in Diveyevo under her guidance. The period of her leadership was full of hardships and ascetic endeavors. However, the future great elders of the Diveyevo monastery and the leaders of genuine spiritual life had been hammered out under Xenia Mikhailovna’s guidance.
