The cathedrals and churches of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery are beautified before every great feast. With this, we express our gratitude to God and show due reverence for His House. The floral arrangements help us create festive atmosphere and show the significance of the feast celebrated by the Church. The beauty of the flowers reminds us of the perfection of life in heaven and the Garden of Eden. That’s how it felt on the eve of the Holy Trinity Day, the patronal feast of the monastery, when the Trinity Cathedral was filled with the aroma of young birch trees and fresh flower arrangements.

A great deal of credit of producing the floral designs for our churches must go to Olga Mironovna Timokhova. She is the author, the mastermind, and the organizer of the floral arrangements in the Diveyevo monastery’s cathedrals. For over ten years, Olga and her colleagues have been coming to the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery to take part at the beautification of the churches before the great feasts and the commemoration days.

The feasts differ in spiritual meaning and tailored to a particular season of the year. These nuances should be considered during the floral decoration process. Olga designs her floral compositions paying particular attention to the character of each feast. For example, for Holy Pentecost, green is the prevailing color in the décor of the Trinity Cathedral. Soft-green birch trees have already been installed beside the Royal Doors and main icons. Decoration work continues in the monastery before the feast. Floral designers work day and night to finish the big assignment on time. The sisters of the monastery and pilgrims assist the florists.

Overnight Thursday into Friday morning, the floral garlands were assembled and mounted on the main chandelier of the Trinity Cathedral. It serves as a focal point of floral decor in the cathedral.
