Patronal feast at the Arzamas Metochion of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery

The Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God at the Arzamas Metochion of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery celebrates a patronal feast: it honors Venerable Alexander of Svir and the Holy Righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky as patrons of the side chapel in the refectory part of the church.

Vigil, paraklesis with the blessing of water prayer service and the Divine Liturgy were served there, with Hegumenia Sergia, the abbess of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery, joining the sisters at the services. At the end of the liturgy, the clergy, matushka hegumenia, the sisters of the monastery, and the faithful walked around the church in a procession.

The memory of two saints bearing the name of Alexander, one a righteous great prince and diplomat famous for his wartime deeds, and another a humble venerable monk vouchsafed to have a vision of the Most Holy Trinity and the Mother of God, is celebrated on the same day. The lives of these two spiritual luminaries and ascetics of our Motherland are the shining examples of the faithful service to God and Motherland for the future generations, while their lives are the illustration of the creative, vibrant, and selfless love for our nation.
