Monastery in Diveyevo is the most visited monastery in Russia

The “Tvil” online service surveyed social media users and found out that the Russian Orthodox monasteries are the most popular among those who go on pilgrimage. 

 The pilgrims named the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery (24.9%), Republic of Karelia’s Valaam monastery (18,37%), and Sergiev Posad’s Trinity–St. Sergius Lavra (12,24%) as the most interesting among the sights for return pilgrimages. 

The Dormition Caves monastery in Bakhchisaray (Crimea) and Pskov Pechersky Caves Monastery with 10,2% each were among other most-visited monasteries in Russia that made the list. They were followed by the Belogorye monastery near Kungur in Perm Region, Novodevichy monastery in Moscow, and Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg that received 6,12% of votes each.
