On the remembrance day of the Holy Prince Vladimir, a water blessing prayer service with the akathist was held in the chapel consecrated in his name.

The chapel in honor of the Enlightener of Rus is located in Diveyevo not far from the Iveron Icon Spring. It was consecrated in 2010, and since then, the clergy of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery, the sisters of the monastery, the local faithful and pilgrims gather there annually in memory of Prince Vladimir to glorify “an ardent intercessor and champion of the Russian lands” asking him to intercede for our country, its army and all the people.

“O all-praised and most glorious Equal-to-the-Apostles and Great Prince Vladimir, accept graciously this prayer of thanksgiving from us about everyone for the Lord to bestow mercy through you upon us, our fathers and forefathers, and our Russian state, from the day of our Baptism even to this hour, and pray to the Almighty God to extend His mercy upon us and all generations, to establish us in righteousness and godliness, to preserve us from all misfortune and evil, that we will be vouchsafed, together with you, like children with their father, to forever sing glory to God: Hallelujah.”

The Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir was not only the Enlightener and the Baptizer, but also the loving father to his people, who directed them with his sovereign hand to the Kingdom of Heaven. While on this path, a great number of the ascetics have shone forth in holiness, thus becoming the foundation stone and a part of the Holy Russia.

According to St. Nikolai (Velimirovich), today’s feast may be called equally a religious and national day, the state and cultural feast, because the Holy Prince Vladimir laid the cornerstone of the centuries-old chamber of the Russian faith, the Russian nation, the Russian state and the Russian culture.
