Hierarchical Divine Liturgy
On February 4, Metropolitan Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas presided at the services in the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery. His Eminence celebrated the Divine Liturgy and the prayer service with the Akathist to Venerable Seraphim of Sarov shortly before it. Bishop Sabbas of Zelenograd, Vicar of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, concelebrated to Met. Georgiy.
At the end of the liturgy, Hegumenia Sergiya thanked the archpastors for presiding at the services.
In his hierarchical address, His Grace Bishop Sabbas said that he had last visited Diveyevo in 1991 and he admired the extent of transformation the monastery had undergone since then. He extended his words of gratitude to Hegumenia Sergiya, the sisters, and everyone who labored to restore the monastery.
Met. Georgiy remarked that the monastic path for both His Grace Bishop Sabbas and himself began in the Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra. “It is always a joy to meet brothers of Venerable Sergius,” said His Eminence Georgiy. In remembrance of his visit to Diveyevo, Met. Georgiy presented Bishop Sabbas with the icon of Venerable Seraphim of Sarov with a part of his holy relics and panagia.
After services, the archpastors and Hegumenia Sergiya walked along the Holy Kanavka of the Mother of God and toured the Annunciation Cathedral.
