Today is a name day in baptism of Hegumenia Maria (Ushakova) who was an abbess of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery from 1860 till 1904.

She was born in 1819 at the Ushakov family estate in the village of Kamenka of Tula Region and was baptized with the name of Righteous Elizabeth, mother of St. John the Baptist. Her memory is celebrated on September 5/18.

On this memorable day, a remembrance Litya service at the first Diveyevo hegumenia’s grave was held by the monastery priest, Presbyter Fr. Artemiy (Osokin).
