“You appeared as a decoration of the land of Russia, the superiors of the Diveyevo monastery”

The uncovering of the relics of the venerable women of Diveyevo, Alexandra, Martha and Elena took place twenty-two years ago, on September 26, 2000. It was the first finding of the holy relics in the newly reopened Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery.

Years before that, the sisters of Diveyevo eagerly awaited the glorification of Venerable Seraphim, and in our times, the nuns from today’s Diveyevo believed in the fulfillment of the elder’s prophecy that the relics of the nuns Alexandra (Melgunova), nun Martha (Melukova) and nun Elena (Manturova) would rest openly in the monastery.

Once, as he was having a conversation with Michael Vasilyevich Manturov, who added four pillars to the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God to support its low vaults, the Venerable Seraphim said in delight: “Good, good, my joy! Four pillars are like four relics! What a joy it is for us, batiushka!” The discovery of the relics of the three Diveyevo nuns almost two centuries after the prophecy by the venerable father gave confidence to everyone that the fourth relics, at a time pleasing to God, will become the next spiritual treasure of the monastery.

Providentially, the relics of the Venerable Alexandra, Martha, and Helen were uncovered on the eve, and on the feast, of the Exaltation of the Cross. Taking up the cross and never looking back, exhibiting great humility and self-denial, the holy nuns of Diveyevo walked along the monastic path at the Fourth lot of the Most Holy Mother of God working diligently during its formative stage: Venerable Alexandra, acting by the will of the Queen of Heaven, laid the foundation of Her Fourth lot in Diveyevo; Venerable Martha zealously participated in the development of the new community, and upon her death was appointed the superior of Heavenly Diveyevo; Venerable Elena, with the blessing of Father Seraphim, was the superior of the Community by the Mill and the executor of the most challenging assignments of the elder.

One of the northern side chapels of the Kazan Cathedral is consecrated in honor of the Venerable women saints of Diveyevo. On the eve of the memorable day and the feast day, Archpriest Oleg Struchkov of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery celebrated the All-Night Vigil there with paraklesis and water-blessing prayer service and the early-morning Divine Liturgy. Following it, the prayer service was held at the Sts Alexandra, Martha and Elena’s relics resting in the Nativity of the Mother of God Church.
