Hegumenia Olympiada visited the Diveyevo monastery

On September 26 and 27, Hegumenia Olympiada (Shmik), abbess of the Iversky monastery in Yeniseysk, visited the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery. Matushka prayerfully attended the services and venerated the relics of the Diveyevo monastery.

It is not Hegumenia Olympiada’s first visit to the Diveyevo monastery. After graduation from the medical college in 1998 and before her entrance to the Transfiguration monastery in Krasnoyarsk, matushka stayed in Diveyevo for two months as a volunteer worker. During her stay there, she received great spiritual support from Venerable Seraphim of Sarov that helped her to make a choice and become a nun. After her stay in Diveyevo, she went straight to the Transfiguration monastery without stopping by at her home.

Beginning from 2007, matushka labored at the Iversky monastery in Yeniseysk and elected its abbess in 2009. This monastery was founded in 1623, where Paraskevi (Plemyannikova), a native of Nizhny Novgorodwhile became its first abbess. In 1923 the monastery was closed and its monastic life was restored in 1998. Currently, eight nuns reside in the monastery.
