The Diveyevo monastery school’s choir took part in the “Song of Nativity” choral competition

The choir “My Joy” of the Diveyevo monastery Orthodox school was invited to the “Song of Nativity,” the 21st Moscow’s festival of spiritual music and choral competition for children and youth choirs. 

The “Song of Nativity” annual spiritual music competition was organized by the City of Moscow’s Department of Education and Science in 2000 aimed at the spiritual and moral development of children and youth and their introduction to the wealth of Russia’s spiritual music tradition. 

The audition of the school choirs took place today at the Conciliar Chamber of the St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University for Humanities located in Lyakhov Lane. 

“My Joy” choir directed by Nun Palladia (Boldina) presented the Troparion to the Nativity of Christ (by S.A. Degtyarev), Christmas carols or “kolyadki” “For the Feast of Nativity” and “Look up in Heaven” edited for children’s choirs by Nun Palladia (Boldina), the chant to the Righteous Great Prince Alexander Nevsky, and the kontakion to the Nativity of Christ in Byzantine chant.
