Bishop John of Soroksk presided at the services in the monastery

Every so often, the hierarchs and clergy visiting the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery deliver prayers at the church services in their native tongues.

Today, the prayers and dismissals were heard in Moldavian language when Bishop John of Soroksk, Vicar of the Kishinev Diocese, celebrated the services at the Diveyevo’s Trinity Cathedral. His Grace served the Akathist to Venerable Seraphim of Sarov and the Divine Liturgy.

At the end of the liturgy, Fr. Peter (Trukhanov), serving a 40-day duty at the monastery as a newly ordained priest, delivered a sermon to the faithful. In his address, Fr. Peter remarked about the spiritual heights of Venerable Prince Oleg of Bryansk whose memory was celebrated today. St. Oleg abandoned his princely title to take monastic vows under the name of Vasily at the Peter and Paul’s monastery in Bryansk he funded and built. For ten years leading up to his death, the holy righteous prince stayed in the monastery following the rules of strict asceticism.  His life is an example of a God-pleasing life full of sacrifice in the name of God.
