On the fiftieth day after Pascha, the Holy Church prayerfully remembers the event of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples of Christ. The Church statute divides the celebration into two festive days. The first part is dedicated to the glorification of the Most Holy Trinity and the next day honors the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Holy Trinity.

The Day of the Holy Spirit is the patronal feast of the Nikolsky Skete of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery in the village of Avtodeevo. The main altar of the church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity, but since the Pentecost is celebrated as a major feast day in Diveyevo, the celebration in Avtodeevo was moved to the following day of the Holy Spirit.

According to tradition, on the Day of the Holy Spirit, the skete holds a procession from the Trinity Church to the Holy Trinity (Troistky) spring in the village of Avtodeevo. The clergy and the sisters of the skete walk at the head of the procession singing the festive troparion.

The Troitsky Spring miraculously appeared near the village in the early 19th century, at the time when the stone church was built. The villagers recalled that a miracle-working icon to the Life-Giving Trinity had once been found where the spring has sprung forth later.
