Day of remembrance of Feodor Vasilyevich Dolgintsev

January 27 is the day of the repose of Feodor Vasilyevich Dolgintsev. After liturgy, the sisters met at his grave and Presb. Daniel (Ganin) of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery served the remembrance litya service.

Feodor Vasilyevich Dolgintsev, Moscow’s merchant of the 2nd guild, member of the Council of directors of the Morozov’s “Tver Paper Goods Manufacturing Society,” and a citizen of honor by birth, was a well-known patron of Diveyevo. Thanks to his efforts, Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery’s metochion representation church was established in Moscow. The monastery, mostly using his funds, was able to build a new winter (heated) cathedral, the today’s Transfiguration Cathedral.

Schema nun Sophia, daughter of Feodor Vasilyevich, had a hegumenia’s blessing to hear the sisters’ confessions and innermost thoughts. She was well respected being called the monastery’s finest and a saintly nun.

Feodor Vasilyevich Dolgintsev offered the Queen of Heaven three centerpieces as gifts for Her Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery: the magnificent Transfiguration Cathedral, Moscow’s Metochion, and his daughter, Schema nun Sophia.

Feodor Vasilyevich even now does not leave the Diveyevo monastery without his patronage. When the process of renovation of Moscow’s Metochion ran up against difficulties, Matushka Hegumenia gave her blessing to pray fervently at his grave seeking his intercession. He responded swiftly and got the renovation going again. It happened again when his help came during the restoration of the Transfiguration Cathedral.
