Uncovering of the relics of the blessed elders Pelagia, Paraskevi and Maria

On the eve of the Nativity of the Mother of God exactly fifteen years ago, the process of uncovering of the relics of the newly glorified blessed elders Pelagia, Paraskevi and Maria took place at the Bolshoye Cherevatovo village cemetery and the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery. On September 14, the relics of blessed Maria Ivanovna were uncovered at the Bolshoye Cherevatovo cemetery. The process of opening of the graves of the blessed women Pelagia and Paraskevi, located behind the Trinity Cathedral’s altar, continued between September 15 and 20, 2004.

By 3:30 pm on September 20, the uncovered relics of a third saint of Diveyevo, blessed Paraskevi Ivanovna, were taken out of the crypt and placed in a simple white coffin. Later, under the accompaniment of the monastery bells, the relics were ceremonially transferred to the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God. The Vespers service and the reading of the Akathist to the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God, commemorated for the upcoming patronal feast, were held at the lower church immediately following the ceremonial procession.

The day of uncovering of the relics has since been celebrated as a joint day of remembrance of the Diveyevo’s holy blessed elders. On their feast day, the Vigil, the Paraklesis with water blessing prayer service, and the Divine Liturgy were held at the Kazan Cathedral.
