A prayer service with akathist to the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord was served today at the monastery’s Our Lady of Kazan Cathedral. The Cross was delivered by the “Holy Rus” motorized procession with the cross. The procession was organized by the local subsidiary of the All-Russian Society of people with disabilities in Magadan Region. 

The procession traveled across Russia from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad and on to Western Europe. The Life-Giving Cross arrived on Mount Athos and a prayer service was served before it on Bosporus Channel. The Black Sea Fleet of Russia received its blessing as well. The Cross was carried along with the Velikoretsky procession with the cross and in a procession around Moscow’s Kremlin. 

On June 11, 2019, the day of the appearance of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord in Godenovo, the procession arrived at the monastery of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord in the village of Pogost in Ivanovo Region where it was originally found. Following it, the replica of the Cross was delivered to the current location of the Cross in the village of Godenovo where it was applied on the original cross. 

The replica was made during the previous Great Lent at the “Ufa Iconostasis” company. On April 23, 2019, Metropolitan Kirill of Ekaterinburg and Verkhoturye blessed the cross at the Church on Blood in Ekaterinburg. 

This prayerful procession, dedicated to the 600th anniversary of the appearance of the Life-Giving Cross at Sakhotsky bog (currently named the Pogost village of Ivanovo Region), started in Magadan in April 2019. 

Yesterday, the participants of the procession carried the replica of the Cross of Godenovo along the Holy Kanavka.
