The Hegumenia Day

Twenty nine years ago on November 17, 2020, His Eminence Archbishop Nikolay (Kutepov), the ruling archpastor of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese, elevated nun Sergiya (Konkova) to the rank of hegumenia of a newly reopened Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery. Matushka was vested with the task of organizing and restoring the monastery destroyed during the years of the Soviet rule.

As she received her cross, Hegumenia Sergiya succeeded Hegumenia Alexandra, Hegumenia Maria, and Venerable Alexandra, the monastery’s founder. With her staff, Matushka took upon herself the duty not only to walk on path of salvation herself but also to lead the sisters in her care in the Heavenly Kingdom.

Every year, the monastery marks this day in a special way. During evening service, an akathist was served to the Mother of God, the Heavenly Patron of the monastery.

The sisters, wishing to bestow special honors to the Most Holy Mother of God, Who is the Superior Hegumenia of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery, added a flower arrangement to the icon  “The Hegumenia of Diveyevo” located at the local saints’ tier of the iconostasis at the Trinity Cathedral.
