On August 2, Hegumenia Sergiya, the abbess of the Seraphim-Diveyevo monastery, took part in the meeting of Met. Georgiy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas and the members of the icon restoration summer school at the archpastoral residence in the Diveyevo monastery.

The summer school for icon restorers runs from July 27 to August 5 at the Arzamas District and led by Larisa Yasnova, the artist and icon restorer.

His Eminence Georgiy noted that the churches of Nizhny Novgorod present a wealth of outstanding examples of church art that needs to be preserved. Unfortunately, many of them were lost during the years of church persecution, some partly lost with others gone forever.  The process of preserving churches requires a systemic, scientific, and professional approach and it is imperative to offer training to a large group of qualified restorers.
